Dan Waters

Daniel is one of Softwire’s most experienced Data Engineering Principals and has led data and cloud projects for some of our largest clients. Daniel joined Softwire 10 years ago, after graduating from the University of Oxford with a First in Mathematics. He’s worked as a technical lead, data engineer, and solution architect in his time at Softwire, and his breadth of experience allows him to take full ownership of your data problems, collaborating closely and helping you to choose tools and approaches tailored precisely to your needs.

Daniel has recently led the team that delivered an end-to-end data insights platform for Elexon: architecting and building a new cloud-native data architecture, building data ingest pipelines from over 30 disparate source systems, and exposing curated data through interactive visualisation, rich APIs, and a real-time data publication service. He was instrumental in developing the platform architecture, and also played a substantial role in upskilling the client’s data team, helping to build capability to ensure long-term success. He has also led major projects at RSA Insurance, Channel 5, and Nationwide Building Society, and helped them to deliver significant programmes of work.

Dan likes to support both the client and his teams, guiding others and ensuring projects are stress-free and smoothly run. And he says his favourite thing about his career is seeing both his teams and his customers go on to greater things.
